Field research was conducted in schools in three cities, namely Nampula, Beira and Maputo. With a sample of 300 students, from a Non-Probabilistic sampling of the intentional type. The results show that students do not know the green areas and their importance in the city, although they indicated that solid wastes are the main environmental problem in urban green areas, even so, they are favorable to the installation of tents in these areas. For these and other reasons, it is very important to include the theme in the 12th grade thematic program in Mozambique to improve knowledge and behavior change in relation to the green areas when they finish the secondary level.

KEYWORDS

Green areas.
