Abstract

This paper arose from the need to better understand how the notions of the field of Geography knowledge related to the idea of the relationships that the subject establishes with and in space have been worked on in early childhood education. Therefore, the study aims to discuss how researchers have produced their scientific publications in Geography developed in the areas of early childhood education, in order to allow reflections on the scientific publications already published on the subject. We use the qualitative research, which for Flick (2009, p. 20) "is of particular relevance to the study of social relations due to the pluralization of life spheres". In order to do so, we are based on the content analysis method proposed by Lawrence Bardin (2011), allowing us to analyze text and perceive similarities and differences between the analyzed contents. Thus, the study has shown that this is an expanding field of study, even tough, in order to improve the comprehension of this expansion, the research scope must reach different regions of Brazil. Moreover, such discussions need to be expanded to the various regions of our country. The study also demonstrated the need to better understand the role of geography in early childhood and how important it is to children for their world readings.
